Identify and coordinate new food safety activities. Follow up with Food-Safe School Team members to ensure that improvement efforts are being carried out.  Rally support for food safety efforts.

The Food-Safe School Team Leader coordinates the team and is the key messenger, advocate, and guide for ensuring a food-safe school. The Food-Safe Schools Action Guide urges Team Leaders to follow these simple but critical recommendations. Details, tips, and resources to help implement each recommendation are outlined in the Action Guide’s in-depth modules.

1. Identify and establish a Food-Safe School Team. 
2. Establish effective communication with team members. 
3. Complete the Food-Safe School Needs Assessment and Planning Guide. 
4. Develop an action plan. 
5. Implement and monitor the action plan. 
6. Measure progress and outcomes.
7. Conduct advocacy and public awareness activities.
